The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Communications, Hajia Rabiat Mopelola Abdulrahman announced the Durbar’s Suspension in a statement Released on Tuesday Evening.

The Statement Noted that the Event was Suspended Following a police intelligence report which indicated that some forces plan to use the boisterous nature of the cultural event to instigate a breakdown of law and order in the state.

Kwrans have taken to the social media platform to express their dismay on the government’s decision.

“The unilateral cancellation of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar 2021 is born out of hatred, jealousy and deceit from the force who felt threatened knowing that some personalities would be getting their traditional titles with a befitting recognition.” – Abdulqadri AbdulKareem Onilemarun

“Re: Durbar Cancellation; Where do we put the loss on the Millions Spent on Preparation? Is it Emirate Rights Tampered?” – Shola Muse

“ILORIN EMIRATE DURBAR 2021: SUSPENSION SHOULDN’T BE NEXT ACTION AT THIS LATE AND LAST HOUR
Even if they don’t cancel this year’s Durban self i have made up my mind that I wouldn’t attend due to my tight schedule but promised to watch it live and direct whenever I am and I always proud for being an ilorite and my love for the ancient city couldn’t be measured or counted.
I don’t even know what exactly happened yesterday at the Central praying ground Irewolede, ilorin either before or after the prayer exercise because I was unable to observed my prayer there but no matter what might have happened, cancellation shouldn’t be the next action to be taken by the state government but hoping and suggesting to provide enough securities to the place of event and gives a strong warning to any evil mind individuals.
If we ask the state government why such action be taken I believe that she will have reason(s) for that and the major reason would likely be an insecurity and the experiences they passed through yesterday as they claimed and said.I don’t really think that insecurity case can caused this year’s Durbar to be cancelled at this late hour in the state where we have countless number of gallant security officers and this cancellation has caused many inconveniences.
With my little instinct there must be another reasons for the cancellation of this year’s Durbar.I believe that most of ilorin people and others wouldn’t happy today and never forget in the history of ilorin and the kwara state administration government. The suspension of this year’s Durbar has caused many inconveniences both financially and culturally because everything has been fully set faaaaaa.” – Abdulganiy Yinka
