Kwara varsity of education gets VC

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has named Prof. Medinat Folorunsho Salman as the first Acting Vice Chancellor of the newly founded Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED) in Ilorin.

Prof. Salman, a specialist in mathematics education, was previously a senior lecturer in the Department of Science Education and the Coordinator of the Educational Technology Centre at the University of Ilorin.

She earned her Bachelor of Education degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1985, followed by a Master’s in Mathematics Education at the University of Ilorin in 1990, where she also completed her PhD in 1998.

Notably, she is the first female professor from Ilorin Emirate.

Her academic focus includes mathematics education, gender-related issues in mathematics and science, and educational innovations in developing countries.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the appointment takes effect immediately.
