Kwara Poly SRC Holds 49th Inaugural Sitting, Appoints In-house Officials

The Kwara State Polytechnic Students Representative Council (SRC) held its 49th inaugural sitting on Tuesday, July, 16th at the polytechnic’s auditorium, marking the beginning of a new era in student leadership.

The SRC comprising a diverse array of Speakers representing various Institutes and Departments, took their oath of office in front of a large gathering of Polytechnic Principal officers, fellow students, and administrative staff.

In his remarks, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed commended the outgoing SRC for their dedication and urged the newly inaugurated Honorables to prioritize unity and constructive engagement.

The Rector represented by the Director of, the Directorate of Students’ Service (DSS), Surveyor Abubakar Aremu reaffirmed the institution’s unwavering support for student-led initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall educational experience and encouraged the SRC to actively contribute to institutional development.

While congratulating the inaugurated Honorables, Surveyor Aremu charged them to follow the steps of the outgoing SRC, stating that the management of Kwara State Polytechnic will support their initiatives that will be beneficial to the students and the polytechnic community as a whole.

On his part, the SUG President, Dist. Sen. Saheed Olalekan Ishola (Educator), congratulated the SRC led by the SUG Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oni Micheal Joseph (Essence), urging the newly inaugurated Honorables to prioritize unity and smooth engagement with the Executive Arms of the SUG and the School Management.

The newly elected Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oni Micheal Joseph (Essence), in his inaugural address, pledged to prioritize the welfare and interests of students, focusing on improving academic and social conditions on campus.

“We are committed to creating a conducive learning environment, enhancing student engagement, and fostering a sense of community among students,”

“The 49th SRC is ready to hit the ground running, addressing pressing student concerns and exploring new initiatives to enhance the polytechnic experience,” he said.

The SRC also appointed several in-house officials.

Oni Micheal Joseph (Estate Management and Valuation); SUG Clerk, Oluwayemisi Esther Ajamu (Minerals And Petroleum Resources Engineering Technology); Deputy clerk, Omolade Oluwatunmise (Public Administration); Deputy Speaker, Juwon Moses (Statistics); Chief Whip, Abolarin Samuel Precious (Mechanical Engineering); Deputy Chief Whip, Awotayo Matanmi Abiodun (Mass Comm); and Mace Bearer, Oladiti Abdulmuheez Olayemi (Surveying and Geo-informatic).

The 49th inaugural sitting of the Kwara Poly SRC marks a significant milestone in the polytechnic’s history, as students, faculty, and staff look forward to a collaborative and productive academic year.
