Kwara Poly Mass Comm Graduate becomes Gombe Girl-Child Ambassador

A graduate of the Department of Mass Communication, Kwara State Polytechnic, Yakub Shukurat Temitope, has been appointed as the Gombe State Girl-Child Education Ambassador. She was decorated as the pioneer NYSC Girl-Child Education Ambassador in Gombe State during the “Girl Child Education Conference” held in Abuja to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, 2024.

In accepting the prestigious honor, Shukurat said, “Having been given this task, it’s my duty to advocate and encourage girl-child education in Gombe State.” Her passion for education and community service was evident during her time at Kwara State Polytechnic, where she made history as the first female speaker of the National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMCOS). Among her numerous achievements was the successful organization of the NAMCOS Legislative Summit, which significantly impacted her peers and the department.

In a statement of support, the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Olohungbebe Fatiu Temitope, expressed his pride in Shukurat’s accomplishments. “She is a very determined lady, full of ambition, and I am incredibly proud of her. Her appointment as an ambassador is a testament to her dedication and drive.”

Shukurat’s appointment, alongside 36 other Corps members from across the country, is a recognition of her commitment to championing girl-child education and her dedication to driving positive change within her community. As the Girl-Child Education Ambassador for Gombe, she is expected to lead initiatives that foster educational opportunities and gender equality for girls, continuing her legacy of leadership and service.
