Kwara Poly IICT Legislative council empowers students with start-up kits
The Students Parliamentary Council (SPC) of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT), Kwara state Polytechnic, Ilorin today empowered four selected students of the institute with start-up kits.


The Students Parliamentary Council (SPC) of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT), Kwara state Polytechnic, Ilorin today empowered four selected students of the institute with start-up kits.
The gesture which was the initiative of the Speaker of the Institute, RT. Hon. Abdulqudus Olalekan Tajudeen, took place at Prof. Wright Academic Conference Hall of the polytechnic.
During the event tagged, “Artisanship Summit 1.0,” meritorious award were given to a renowned community developer; Mallam Lawal Olohungbebe, the guest speaker; Mr. Jamiu Adanla and the institute’s director; Dr. Raji.
The Guest speaker, Mr. Jamiu Adanla who delivered lecture on ‘Importance of workmanship to Nigeria labor market,’ stressed on the needs for students to acquire vocational skills alongside academic learning.
Adanla advised the beneficiaries not to sell the items given to them, noting that Nigeria is scarce of white collar job.
HOD Mass Communication department; Mr. Saadudeen Abdulrasheed, IICT Director; Dr. Raji and the special guest of honor; Mallam Lawal Olohungbebe in their separate remarks, commended Lekan Tajudeen for the brilliant initiative.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the faculty’s Speaker, RT. Hon. Abdulqudus Lekan Tajudeen who is represented by his Chief Pres Secretary (CPS), Hon. Olarewaju Shifau explained that the gesture “was part of our activities in giving back to the student, and making an everlasting impact in the lives of the students, and also to encourage students on the importance of entrepreneurship in Nigeria economy of today”.
The beneficiaries were selected from three departments, Mass comm, Office Technology Management and Computer Science department, having registered and fulfilled the required process. The items distributed to them included; Sewing Machine, Baking machine, Make-up tools and interior decor equipments.
