The Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Pharmacist Sadiq Umar has applauded Online Media Practitioners and the youth for their commitment, selflessness and doggedness towards the success of OTOGE revolution in Kwara state during 2019 general elections.
Senator Sadiq Umar gave this commendation on Monday while hosting the Association of Kwara State Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) to Iftar in Ilorin, the state capital.
The Senator noted that the youth and Online Media Practitioners cascade enough is enough (OTOGE) message which led to total victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last general elections.
He therefore urged the Online Media Practitioners to continue to support Governor Abdulrazaq’s government and other political office holders for the state progress and development, stating that the governor has implemented projects in local government areas including Kwara North which had experience infrastructural neglect from previous administrations.
While reeling out his achievements, Senator Sadiq said he has facilitated 40 infrastructural development projects, organized 10 different empowerment programmes with thousands of beneficiaries and introduced social security scheme of N5000 for aged drawn from five local government in his constituency.
The Senator however charged media to continue to sensitize the people on the key role of a lawmaker, which is lawmaking for common good, noting that implementation of the projects only complement their work.
Earlier, the Chairman Association of Kwara State Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) and the Informant247 Publisher, Mr Solihu Taofeek said the association comprises over 20 media platforms operating across the three senatorial district of the state.
Solihu Taofeek noted that each media platform is an independent entity practicing journalism in line with professional ethics and ASKOMP guidelines and codes.
The Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Yakubu Danladi and Kwara APC Caretaker Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Samari were also in attendance.
