Kwara Govt to present N239bn Revised Budget

The Kwara State Executive Council has granted approval for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to present a revised 2023 budget proposal of N239,084,199,757.00 to the State House of Assembly. 

In this revised budget, capital expenditure accounts for 50.2%, while recurrent expenditure makes up the remaining 49.8%. Notably, this revised budget is 27% larger (N50,238,596,196.00) than the initial 2023 budget approved by the House.

The decision to approve this budget followed a submission by the Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi. 

The process for revising the budget, which commenced in June 2023, involved a comprehensive review of submissions from various government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) by the Central Budget Committee (CBC).

The selection of projects for the remainder of the year prioritizes capital projects aimed at stimulating economic activity in the state for inclusive growth and development. Special consideration has been given to initiatives that can enhance economic activities and improve the living standards of the people.

Additionally, the cabinet approved Star Sewing Machine Limited, an international firm, to manage the State’s Garment Factory through a transparent bidding process in line with applicable laws.

The council meeting, which took place on Friday evening, was presided over by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and attended by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, Secretary to the State Government Alhaji AbdulKadir Mahe, and all the Commissioners.
