Kwara Govt Commended as KWPHCDA flags off Polio Vaccination in Lafiagi

The Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Mohammed Kudu Kawu has commended the Kwara State Government for its giants strides in providing quality healthcare service for the people of the state.

The monarch who gave the commendation while flagging off Polio Vaccination at his palace on saturday appreciated Kwara State governor, Mall. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for prioritizing the wellbeing of his people.

He however urged mothers and caregivers in Lafiagi to give agency maximum cooperation in order to get their wards vaccinated against the polio virus.

Earlier in her remark, The Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Nusirat Elelu said that flag-off ceremony is an exercise to protect children against polio virus.

Dr Elelu who said Polio is a viral disease that can cause irreversible paralysis in infected individuals, added that the disease can easily be prevented by an effective and readily available oral polio vaccine which is safe and easy to administer.

“The Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency and partners with the support of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has been able to successfully interrupt the transmission of the circulating mutant polio virus across the 16 LGAs through quality polio vaccination campaigns in the last several months.

The support received from the State government, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, our partners; WHO, UNICEF and AFENET and our traditional and religious institutions in previous campaigns, have contributed to the outstanding performances we have recorded in immunization and other Primary Health Care activities, resulting in multiple awards in the last few of months.This is heart-warming as we would continue to count on this support to keep polio and other vaccine preventable diseases at zero.”Dr. Elelu said.

Conclusively, The KWPHCDA Boss implored parents to make their children and wards available for the Polio vaccination.
