Kwara-born Fuji icon Kollington Ayinla hospitalized

The renowned Nigerian Fuji singer, Kollington Ayinla, is currently receiving medical care at a Lagos hospital due to an undisclosed illness.
Earlier rumors circulating on social media falsely claimed his passing, but the 75-year-old musician addressed the misinformation in a viral video, expressing gratitude to the medical staff at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for their exceptional care.
Ayinla also thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support. From his hospital bed, the ace singer acknowledged LASUTH’s role in saving his life and debunked the false reports of his demise.
Born Abdulrasaq Kolawole Ilori, Ayinla is a pioneer of the Fuji genre, known by aliases such as Baba Alatika, Kebe-n-Kwara, and Baba Alagbado.
Some of his iconic songs include ‘Ori Mi Ma Je Ntosi’, ‘Ebami Dupe’, ‘Emi Ni O Jo’, and ‘Nigeria Ko le Ku’.
