The Kwara State Governornment has flagged off a mass vaccination Exercise to vaccinated 1.9 Residents against Coronavirus before January 2022.
The flag-off ceremony, which took place earlier today at the kwara state ministry of health in qIlorin was performed on behalf of H.E the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mall Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq by his deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi who conveyed the governor’s message assured Kwarans that the Abdulrahman led Administration will make COVID-19 Vaccines accessible and available to the people of the state.
He said, As the scope of the COVID 19 vaccination expands through the mass vaccination campaign throughout the State, I want to encourage all and sundry to ensure protection against COVID-19 by getting themselves vaccinated,”
“The vaccines have been adjudged to be safe and devoid of negative adverse effects. Our administration has taken bold steps right from the early days of the pandemic by taking proactive steps such as building a standard treatment centre and provision of conducive and safe work environment to the crop of well-trained health workers in different required specialties who provide services to COVID-19 patients admitted into the treatment centre.”
COVID 19 pandemic has devastated the world economy and it remains a major public health challenge, Alabi said, encouraging all Kwarans to get themselves vaccinated free of charge.
“The arrival of COVID 19 vaccine brought a sigh of relief; as we know like other Vaccine Preventable Diseases, COVID-19 vaccine will reduce the number of illnesses and deaths from the disease,” he added.
“I want to specially thank the management of Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency under the leadership of the Executive Secretary Dr. Nusirat Elelu in their resilence in ensuring Kwarans get vaccinated on a continuous basis since March 2021.”
Alabi added that the Kwara State Government will continue to do its best to ensure that COVID-19 care and other health services are made available and accessible for everyone.
Dr Nusirat Elelu, The Executive Secretary of the Kwara state Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KWSPHCDA) Agency, while speaking at the Flag off Ceremony on Tuesday disclosed that the agency is targeting the vaccination of 50 per cent eligible population of Kwarans by the end of January 2022.
She explained that the mass vaccination programme is aimed at scaling up the numbers of vaccinated individuals in the state.
She said, “the agency has strategically scaled up the Vaccination to public health institution, Secondary Health Institutions (General Hospital), tertiary institutions in order to vaccinate a large number of people in the Exercise.”
“We will make the Vaccination available at accredited Private Health Centres and also deplore a mobile vaccination vehicle which will be moving round the city in order to ensure all individuals are vaccinated.”
The KWSPHCDA Executive Secretary who revealed that the agency will establish a Mass vaccination sites in places with large population, noted that the sites will be structure at specific areas like ShopRite, state Secretariat, markets and other Places with large population of People.
Conclusively, The KWSPHCDA Boss urged Kwarans to take advantage of the mass vaccination programme to get vaccinated Against the deadly Virus.
