Kwara 10th Assembly Inaugurated

Kwara State House of Assembly on Tuesday sworn-in and inaugurated 24 newly elected and returning members of the 10th assembly.

The inauguration which was led by the clerk of the house, Hon. Jumai Kperogi, took place at the chamber of the assembly complex in Ilorin.

A member representing Ilesha/Gwanara state constituency, Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi emerged as the Speaker of 10th Kwara State House of Assembly for the second term.

Danladi who hails from Gwanara, Baruten Local government, emerged unopposed during the inauguration of the 24 house members elected.

His nomination was moved by the member representing Kaiama/Kemanji/Wajibe state constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Danbaba and seconded by Hon. Lawal Arionla Fatimoh, member representing Ilorin East state constituency.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi in his inaugural address, thanked his colleagues for finding him worthy of the responsibility.

He said, “Today is a day of happiness for all of us as we have take our oath of allegiance and oath of office as honorable members of the 10th legislators. I appreciate you all for finding me worthy of the responsibility, I hereby accept and take the seat of speaker of the 10th legislators in Kwara state. This wouldn’t be achieve without critics and support.

“I hope and pray that, this opportunity will help us foster unity and progress in our dear state.”

Danladi therefore urged the members to considered the process of oath taking to serve their respective constituents diligently and maintain and work with the provisions of the law which they were sworn-in.

He however, appreciated the leadership of the State Governor and Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq CON.

At the end of the inauguration session, the Speaker announced the member representing Ilorin Central; Barrister Oba Abdulkadir Magaji as the 10th House leader, Hon Akolade Ganiyu Gabriel; Ekiti constituency as the Whip, Deputy House Leader; Hon Abdulraheem Medinat Lanwa/Ejidongari constituency, and Hon Maryam Yusuf Aladi Ilorin South constituency as the Deputy Whip of the 10th legislators.

The inaugural session of the new lawmakers was attended by Traditional rulers, Party leaders, hundreds of relations, friends and well-wishers.
