Kogi State has reported an annual internally generated revenue (IGR) of N23.5 billion, marking a significant increase from the previous N6.5 billion figure.

This announcement was made by Salihu Sule Enehe, Executive Chairman of the Kogi Inland Revenue Service, during the 2024 stakeholders’ interactive session held in Lokoja, the state capital.

Enehe highlighted that the state’s revenue generation stood at N6.5 billion in 2015 but has since risen to N23.5 billion annually, attributing the growth to enhanced tax collection efforts and reforms.

He emphasized that over the past eight years, the state government has utilized taxpayer funds to develop infrastructure, improve education, healthcare, agriculture, and other sectors. Enehe urged taxpayers to fulfill their obligations promptly to enable further development initiatives.

Dr. Olubunmi Ajayi, Director overseeing MDAs and Other Revenues, emphasized the importance of transparent tax administration during his presentation on “Continuous Stakeholders’ Engagement For Effective Tax Administration.”

He urged taxpayers to avoid cash payments to revenue officials and instead utilize simplified methods such as bank transfers, Point of Sale (PoS), and other authorized means.

The stakeholders’ interactive session attracted participants from various sectors including business, property ownership, civil society organizations, school management, government officials, religious and community leaders, and small-scale traders.
