The Kogi State APC Governorship Campaign Council has convened a press briefing to discuss critical issues surrounding the upcoming November 11 Governorship election in the state.

The council expressed reservations concerning the recent security operations in Kogi East, particularly in Dekina Local Government Area, where members of the party were arrested without clear reasons.

They emphasized that these individuals were not involved in any activities against the peace of the state and urged their immediate release.

Advocating for a fair electoral process, the council stressed the importance of responsible conduct by law enforcement agencies to avoid punishing innocent citizens needlessly. While denouncing acts of lawlessness, they highlighted the wrongful detention of party leaders and members who, in their view, did not deserve such treatment.

The council condemned the tragic murder of an APC member in Kotonkarfe, attributing it to the individual’s association with the party. They called for accountability and swift action from security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice for the victim.

Encouraging Kogites to participate in the upcoming election, the council urged the populace to reject division and stand for the continuity of the state’s development. They emphasized that the November 11 election symbolizes the reward for good governance.

Critiquing opposition parties, the council dismissed their tactics as misleading and asserted the strength and commitment of the APC leadership in steering the state forward. They highlighted the purported ignorance and ethical violations of certain opposition candidates.

Addressing the bitterness and ethnic biases of the opposition, the council attributed these sentiments to their failure to win public support and discredited their attempts to sow division. They assured the public of an administration devoid of vindictiveness, focusing on healing and progress for the state.

Expressing gratitude to the President and National Party Leaders for their support, the council reaffirmed its commitment to conducting credible polls and ensuring the state’s progress under the APC candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo. They concluded by reiterating their dedication to the state’s development and continuity under the proposed leadership.
