The Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State for Internal and Corporate Affairs, Hon. Abdulkarim Isah, widely known as ECOMOG, has stepped down from his role and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in anticipation of the upcoming November 11 gubernatorial election in the state.
Isah, according to TRIBUNE ONLINE’s information, previously served as an elected chairman at the local government level before his appointment as the Governor’s special adviser.
In his resignation letter dated August 16, 2023, the former APC member mentioned that his involvement in politics has always been motivated by the desire to serve his community.
He stated, “The question then becomes whether I have effectively fulfilled this responsibility to my constituents. There’s no need for hesitation in my response, which led me to the decision to venture into alternative paths that would serve and benefit the same community.”
In an official statement sent to our correspondent, the ex-aide of Yahaya Bello conveyed that it would be detrimental for Kogi, a state that has often captured attention, to remain stagnant under the current ruling party.
“It’s regrettable that the APC has lost its influence in the state due to Alh. Yahaya Bello’s decision to impose Ododo as the APC candidate. As a result, we must align ourselves with a political party that can bring tangible progress to our citizens,” he appended.
