Kano Guber : Appeal Court Set to Hear Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Case on Election Tribunal Ruling

The Appeal Court in Abuja is scheduled to begin hearing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s appeal against his removal by the Kano Election Petition Tribunal on Monday, November 6, 2023.

The case (CA/KN/EP/GOV/KAN/34/2023) involving Governor Yusuf, his party (NNPP), the opposition (APC), and INEC will be heard, with both sides’ legal representatives fully prepared for the legal proceedings.

Previously, the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal invalidated 165,663 of Governor Yusuf’s votes due to a lack of INEC stamp or signature. Initially declared the winner with 1,019,602 votes, after the deduction, his count reduced to 853,939, falling short of his opponent’s (Gawuna of the APC) 890,705 votes.

The Tribunal subsequently ruled in favor of Gawuna and instructed the withdrawal of Yusuf’s certificate of return, leading to the appeal by Governor Yusuf, his party (NNPP), and INEC to reverse the Tribunal’s decision in their favor.
