Kano Governor’s Election Appeal Outcome on Hold as Court Reserves Judgment
Previously, the tribunal invalidated Yusuf’s election on September 20, citing the invalidation of 165,663 of his votes. It determined that the ballot papers used lacked the necessary signatures or stamps from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has deferred giving a verdict in the appeal presented by Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, contesting his removal by the state Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
Previously, the tribunal invalidated Yusuf’s election on September 20, citing the invalidation of 165,663 of his votes. It determined that the ballot papers used lacked the necessary signatures or stamps from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Consequently, the tribunal declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, as the winner of the governorship election.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the tribunal’s decision, Governor Yusuf filed an appeal, urging the court to overturn the judgment.
