JUST IN : Tinubu creates new Ministry
President Bola Tinubu has announced the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development on Tuesday.
This announcement was made during the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Livestock Reform Implementation Committee at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
However, the President did not name the Minister for the new ministry. If it is a new nominee, the name will need to be forwarded to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
Attendees at the inauguration included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and other cabinet members.
It is worth recalling that on September 15, 2023, President Tinubu approved the establishment of the Presidential Committee dedicated to reforming the livestock industry and finding long-term solutions to recurring clashes between herders and farmers in the country.
The formation of this committee followed the submission of a report from the National Conference on Livestock Reforms and Mitigation of Associated Conflicts in Nigeria.
