Jose Mourinho sacked as Roma Manager
Despite Mourinho’s contract initially slated to conclude in June, both he and his technical team will exit immediately.
Roma has officially parted ways with coach Jose Mourinho, citing the decision as being “in the best interests of the club,” as announced on Tuesday.
Despite Mourinho’s contract initially slated to conclude in June, both he and his technical team will exit immediately.
Owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin expressed gratitude for Mourinho’s passion and efforts since his arrival in 2021 but stressed the necessity of an immediate change, given Roma’s current challenges in Serie A.
The 60-year-old Portuguese coach led Roma to the inaugural Europa Conference League trophy in 2022 and last season’s Europa League final.
However, the team’s struggles this campaign, currently sitting ninth in Serie A, prompted the decision.
Italian media speculates that former Roma captain Daniele De Rossi, a 2006 World Cup winner, could be Mourinho’s replacement.
