Jim Ratcliffe Acquires 25% Stake in Manchester United
The acquisition, valued at $300 million, includes both class A and class B shares acquired from the Glazer family, the existing majority shareholders.

British billionaire and INEOS chairman, Jim Ratcliffe, has purchased a 25% stake in Manchester United plc, the parent company of the English Premier League club.
The acquisition, valued at $300 million, includes both class A and class B shares acquired from the Glazer family, the existing majority shareholders.
As part of the deal, INEOS will assume responsibility for managing the club’s football operations, marking a significant development following Manchester United’s announcement in November 2022 to explore “strategic alternatives.”
The acquisition aims to inject fresh funds into the club and leverage INEOS’s commercial experience.
Ratcliffe, expressing a commitment to the long-term success of the club, aspires to see Manchester United regain its top position in English, European, and world football.
The move comes as Manchester United, a 20-time EPL winner, has not clinched the league title in the past 10 years, with their last triumph in the 2012/13 season.
