Alex Iwobi has revealed that he began making music at 14, alongside pursuing his professional football career.

The Super Eagles midfielder shared this during an interview with *TheCable* in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, on Wednesday.

In March 2024, the 28-year-old footballer surprised his social media followers by showcasing a hidden talent. He posted a teaser of his unreleased rap under the stage name “17”, where he demonstrated his rapping skills over a UK Drill beat, with a montage of his on-pitch moments playing in the background.

In June 2024, the Fulham player followed up with another upbeat track titled *Don’t Shoot*.

Discussing his newfound musical spotlight, Iwobi explained that he had been balancing both music and football since his teenage years, though it only recently became public.

“I’ve been doing music since I was a teenager, but it’s only now that people are discovering it because I’ve just started sharing it,” he said.

Iwobi also mentioned having “many unreleased songs,” with plans to release them at the right time, based on his team’s recommendations.

“In my London neighborhood, you either played football or became an artist. I was doing both,” he said. “It’s only recently that I’ve shown my interest in music publicly, but I’ve been making music since I was 14. It’s a surprise to the world because I’m just now putting it out there, but I’ve been doing it for a long time.

“Whenever my team and I feel it’s the right time to release the music, we’ll do it. They know best. But until then, I have plenty of unreleased songs.”
