INEC withdraws appeal against Kano guber tribunal judgement
The commission, through its legal department head in Kano, Suleiman Alkali, stated that they had no grounds for appealing the judgment.
INEC has decided to retract its appeal against the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s ruling.
The commission, through its legal department head in Kano, Suleiman Alkali, stated that they had no grounds for appealing the judgment.
The letter, dated October 6, indicated that the National Commission In charge of Legal Services and the National Commissioner in charge of Kano zone directed the withdrawal of the appeal.
This decision comes after the tribunal’s ruling on September 20, which declared the APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, as the winner and invalidated a significant number of votes from Governor Abba Yusuf.
INEC had initially filed a 33-ground appeal but now opts to withdraw it.
