INEC To Begin Continuous Voter Registration Ahead Of Edo, Ondo gubernatorial elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Edo and Ondo states, ahead of the upcoming governorship elections.
This exercise aims to allow eligible citizens not yet registered as voters to do so.
INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, made this announcement during a meeting with political party leaders in Abuja.
The CVR will run concurrently in both states from May 27th to June 5th, 2024, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm daily, including weekends.
Additionally, registered voters have the opportunity to transfer their registration within the two states or from other states.
Yakubu emphasized that double registration is illegal, urging registered voters to refrain from attempting to re-register. Lost or damaged voter cards will be replaced during the CVR period.
To maximize efficiency, registration will be conducted at ward levels and state headquarters, rather than local government offices and designated centers as in the past.
