Ahead of the Bayelsa governorship election scheduled for November 11, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has prioritized addressing security concerns by meeting with stakeholders.

The meeting between INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and members of the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) focused on this crucial aspect.
INEC emphasized the pivotal role of security agencies in ensuring a smooth and secure electoral process. INEC also urged political parties to maintain peace and avoid violence during the campaign, particularly in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo states.
The chairman appealed to party leaders to reflect on their candidates’ conduct and discourage the use of violence and disruptions during the electoral process.
