During his appearance before the house of representatives committee on appropriations, Yakubu explained the allocation’s purpose, highlighting that it encompasses expenses for off-cycle polls in three states, personnel costs, and unforeseen allowances.
INEC Chair, Mahmood Yakubu, defends the N18 billion supplementary budget, citing the need to conduct 11 bye-elections.
During his appearance before the house of representatives committee on appropriations, Yakubu explained the allocation’s purpose, highlighting that it encompasses expenses for off-cycle polls in three states, personnel costs, and unforeseen allowances.
He clarified that the absence of budgetary provisions prevented conducting certain bye-elections and emphasized the necessity for budgetary allocations to cover these 11 vacancies across national and state assemblies.
Yakubu expressed the hope that future unforeseen by-elections won’t disrupt their planned budget.
