IEYDA hosts Football competition to commemorate Emir of ilorin 27th coronation anniversary

A socio-Cultural group in Ilorin, Ilorin Youth Developmental Association (IEYDA) organized a football competition in commemoration of the 27th Coronation anniversary of the Emir of Ilorin; Alh Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari CFR.

The Final match of the competition tagged “EMIR CUP” was played on Thursday between Afon FC and Akanbi FC at the Adewole Baseball pitch in Ilorin, the state capital.

At the end of the match, Afon FC defeated Gaa Akanbi FC with 2 goals to nil.

Immediately after the match, the winner Afon FC, Members of IEYDA and supporters marched to the palace of the Emir of Ilorin to receive Royal blessings from the Emir who is represented by Seriki Salama of Ilorin Emirate (Head of palace); Alh Ayuba Salama.

Earlier, the director of sport of the association, Abdulrazaq Jimba disclosed that the football competition kicked off on October 15th, 2022 with 32 communities across the five local government that makes up ilorin Emirate.

Some of the dignitaries present at the final match include, Executive chairman Kwara state sport commission; Alh Bola Magaji, Director of Kwara state sport commission; Shola Sheu, Director Kwara football academy; Alh Bako Ibrahim, Alangua Akanbi; Alh Uthman Abdulyekeen Akanbi, IEYDA president; Alh Babatunde Abdullahi Salah, members of the association, football lovers and well wishers.

Meanwhile, the publicity secretary of the association, Alh Uthman Jaguma revealed that further occasion to commemorate the 27th coronation anniversary of the Emir of Ilorin, include, Special prayer, 2nd edition of Ilorin Emirate Youth Summit which will hold by 3PM Friday 11th of November, 2022 and the concluding ceremony is IEYDA 9th annual empowerment which will come up on Saturday, 12th November 2022 at the Emir of Ilorin palace.
