President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that he had worked as a security guard in the past and attributed his journey to the presidency to the power of a good education.

He shared this revelation during a speech delivered in India in preparation for the upcoming G-20 summit scheduled for September 9th and 10th in the country.

Addressing a gathering that included numerous Nigerian students studying in India, Tinubu encouraged them to aspire to great heights in their careers through dedication and determination.

He recounted his personal experience of starting as a security guard and working as a tutor in a school. His solid educational foundation led him to join Deloitte, one of the world’s largest accounting firms.

Reflecting on his career progression, Tinubu revealed that he had inquired if Deloitte had branches in Nigeria, and upon learning that they had many clients there, he seized the opportunity to return home. Subsequently, he found success at Exxon Mobil, where he served as an accountant, auditor-general, and treasurer. Eventually, he ventured into politics with a determined attitude.

Tinubu’s message to the students was one of optimism and inclusion, emphasizing that anyone, regardless of their background or origin within Nigeria, could achieve their aspirations. In the lead-up to the 2023 elections, various aspects of Tinubu’s personal history, including his educational background, age, state of origin, and prior employment details, faced public scrutiny, with opposition parties questioning the accuracy of his bio-data.
