Nigerian actor Aremu Afolayan has expressed regret over not getting involved in cybercrime, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo.”

“Yahoo Yahoo” is a term widely used in Nigeria to describe internet fraud, which has become a significant issue among the youth.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Aremu revealed that people had attempted to lure him into becoming a “Yahoo boy.”

The 44-year-old actor admitted that he “regrets” not engaging in the illicit activity, suggesting that hard work “seems pointless.”

“Of all the times people mentioned Yahoo Yahoo, today is when I regret the most that I didn’t get involved,” he wrote in pidgin English.

“Legitimate hustling has never felt so meaningless.”

Aremu Afolayan is one of the sons of the late Adeyemi Afolayan, a renowned actor, director, and producer, popularly known as Ade Love. Ade Love was the brother of actress Toyin Afolayan and the father of film actors Kunle Afolayan, Gabriel Afolayan, Moji Afolayan, and Aremu.

Aremu is married to Kafilat Quadri, and the couple has a daughter named Iyunade Afolayan.

Last year, Aremu publicly expressed his frustration in a profane rant, criticizing his family members for not buying him a car.

“Why is there not a single person in my family willing to buy me a car in my lifetime? What kind of useless luck do I have?” he questioned.

“I don’t have any supportive family members.”
