I declined offer to meet Davido in 2019 because he doesn’t align with my vision – Odumodublvck
He explained that this decision was based on the fact that the Afrobeats star’s vision did not align with his own.
Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck recently revealed in an interview on the CTRL Room that he declined an offer to meet with Davido for promotional purposes.
He explained that this decision was based on the fact that the Afrobeats star’s vision did not align with his own.
The up-and-coming rapper opted instead to collaborate with Teezee, BOJ, and Sholzy, as he believed they offered a direct path to the UK market, which suited his style and goals better.
“In 2019, someone suggested we go to Lagos and meet Davido. However, I questioned what Davido could do for my career.
I realized that performing in front of Davido’s Afrobeats audience wouldn’t resonate with my sound,” he stated.
He added, “Teezee, BOJ, and Sholz, on the other hand, were more aligned with my international sound, especially in the UK market.
So, I chose to follow a path that matched my vision and sound. This decision has brought us to where we are today, becoming number one in the country against all odds.”
Born Tochukwu Ojogwu, Odumodublvck is known for his genre-blending stage performances. In 2022, he signed a record deal with NATIVE Records in partnership with Def Jam Recordings.
He also released his first single, ‘Picanto,’ featuring ECko Miles and Zlatan, followed by the chart-topping single ‘Declan Rice,’ named after the English footballer.
