Dispatch rider Monday Osazuwa provided astonishing testimony at the Special Offences Court in Lagos on Friday, revealing how the former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, directed him on multiple occasions to collect $3 million in cash installments.
Led by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), Osazuwa, who served as a dispatch rider at Zenith Bank before joining the CBN, recounted his experiences as a contract staff member and later as a senior supervisor in charge of documentation in Emefiele’s office.
He detailed delivering cash amounts, including $1 million, to Emefiele’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, and subsequently collecting $850,000, $750,000, and $400,000 in separate transactions loyalty, Osazuwa asserted that he never received any compensation or reward from Emefiele. Emefiele, who faces charges of abuse of office and fraud totaling $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion, was granted bail by Justice Raman Oshodi, following his arraignment on April 8.
He had been suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June the previous year.
