Speaking During a Joint press Conference held in Ilorin on Wednesday, Comrade Abdulwahab Arewa, the National President of NAKSS, along with Comrade Issa Abdulgafar, his NANS counterpart, urged the governor to maintain a focus on the welfare of students, particularly during this crucial period.
The students’ leadership praised the governor for his proactive approach, emphasizing that improving student affairs has consistently been a top priority on his agenda.
“few days ago, the leadership of the students bodies had a meeting with His Excellency, Gov Abdulrazaq where we had an engaging discussion on issues relating to students’ welfare in the state.
The tete-a-tee interaction availed us the opportunities to explore viable strategies and initiatives that will further assist students in the cause of navigating through this trying time.
We deemed it expedient to put before His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the various issues affecting students in the state and It gladdens our hearts to inform you all that we have got a Governor who have a strong commitment and desire to satisfy the needs of the students in due time as he has cheerfully approved most of our pressing demands, including the annual bursary payment, scholarship for law students as well as some other palliatives that are tailored towards alleviating the economic hardship on the students.
Fellow Kwara state students, we are not unaware of the country’s current economic crises and its resultant challenges. However, as good and patriotic ambassadors, our spirit must remain unbowed as things will soon turn around for better as this is only a step towards achieving economic transformation and reformation which we all crave for.
Let us remain hopeful and optimistic as the Kwara State Government, under the purposeful leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, is judiciously deploying resources at her disposal to make life easier for people, especially students in the state. Aside from the palliatives being given to students, various strategic measures have also been put in place to address the rising cost of food and other basic amenities in the state.
It’s evident that we have got a governor who has been greatly prioritizing our interest, even before the advent of this economic hardship in the country. He’s proven himself to be ahumble and proactive man who never gets tired of listening to the yearnings of the students as improvement of our affairs has always remain a topmost part of his agenda.
However, we passionately appeal to the Governor to continue to prioritize the interest of the students especially at this critical time, while we also appeal to the Governor to extend the distribution of palliatives to our vulnerable students and inclusion of private school students schooling in Kwara while disbursing students bursary.”The Student leaders said.
Conclusively, The Student leaders, urged students in the state to remain calm and hopeful in the cause of building a new nation that will be full of great opportunities for all of us to thrive,
They cautioned them against allowing themselves to be manipulated or utilized as instruments to disrupt the peace and serenity of the state by any individual or group.
