Group organises summit to proffer solution to problems facing Alore Community 

The Alore Descendant Community Development Association (ADCDA), on Tuesday held a maiden community summit with the stakeholders of Alore Community, in Ilorin West LGA of Kwara state.

The summit which takes place at Muslim community hall, Kwara state college of education, Ilorin, was aimed to enhance unity and progress amongst the people of Alore community.

Speaking with our correspondence shortly after the program, the association’s president, Eleja Yusuf Yekeen explained the summit was organized in a bid to proffer solutions to the problems facing the community. 

According to him, “During the congress, we discovered that we need a kind of summit that will comprises of all the indigenes of Alore community while the aims of the summit is to bring all our people together in order to look for a way to create a kind of employment, empowerment and other activities that will make our community grow in terms of economic, social and political aspect of this life”

“Calling all the stakeholders of Alore indigenes, we believed that we have three categories in Alore as a stakeholders; we have Politicians, Academicians and Business tycoons. By doing this kind of summit, we will be able to let them know the kind of assistant we need from them to promote our people, our community and Ilorin at large.”

“This is not the first time of this kind of summit, part of what we have been doing to our community are during the covid-19 pandemic, I make sure palliatives materials were distributed to every area in our community”

“As the president of the union, have make sure I carried everyone along in all Alore community activities in terms of sport, Qur’an activities, Ramadan lectures, summer lesson and we have through the world bank assistant renovated some primary schools and dig well in our community,” he said.

Similarly, The Chairman organizing committee of the summit; Dr. A.S Omosidi said the summit is an avenue to discuss some of problems and challenges that’s facing the community and to proffer solutions to these problems and challenges, explainning that the association have some programs designed to train youths on artisan jobs.

He said, “The objectives of the summit speaks a lot about what we intends to achieve, one of the objective is to bring all the stakeholders of Alore together, to have a common voice to discuss problems and challenges that’s facing us and to proffer solutions to these problems and challenges that’s facing us and to form a forum whereby we will have a single voice representing the entire Alore”

“We have empowerment programs, Job creating programs and training for the youths such as computer training and other artisans trainings. The old age, orphans and widows will benefit a lot from these programs,” Dr. Omosidi concluded.

The Senator representing Kwara central senatorial district in the 9th assembly; Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe who is also witnessed the event commended the efforts of the organizers for ensuring peace and progress reign in Alore commumity, noting that the program will be of good benefit to Ilorin emirate and Kwara state at large.

He said: “The discussion and decision is about community development, about how to uplift the community in terms of human capital, infrastructural development, security and overall well-being of the resident of Alore.”

“If Alore is developed, definitely, it will affect Ilorin Emirate as community, Kwara state and Nigeria in general because Alore is a community is a very big community, with both indigenes of Alore, residents within the community, outside the community and in fact outside the country.”

The Kwara lawmaker advised Kwarans to be peaceful in  exercising their fundamental human right, their franchise.

He However urged them to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to vote for development, stating that development is what this current government and those in it stands for.
