
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has disclosed his intention to hand over to the governor-elect before May 29, the constitutionally recognised date for handling over of power.
Ortom also disclosed that he would not be leaving the state after handing over to Hyacinth Alia, the APC candidate that defeated his anointed PDP candidate during March 18, 2023 guber poll.
According to TRIBUNE, Ortom made the disclosure on Tuesday at the State Executive Council meeting in Makurdi, the state capital.
The governor said, he will hand over power to the governor-elect on May 28, a day before the constitutional date set for the official handover.
Recalls that, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated Ortom and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate in the March 18 governorship election in the state.
Ortom’s next move was disclosed by the state commissioner for information, culture and tourism, Micheal Inalegwu while speaking to journalists after the meeting of the state executive council.
