Germany started Euro 2024 in style with a commanding 5-1 victory over Scotland at the Allianz Arena on Friday night.

Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, and Kai Havertz (from a penalty) secured a three-goal lead by halftime.

Second-half goals from Niclas Fullkrug and Emre Can further solidified Germany’s dominance, despite Antonio Rudiger’s own goal being a brief consolation for Scotland. Ryan Porteous’s red card for a dangerous tackle compounded Scotland’s woes.

Wirtz opened the scoring early with a clinical finish, followed by Musiala’s thunderous strike from the edge of the box. Havertz converted a penalty after Porteous’s foul, extending Germany’s lead before halftime.

Fullkrug’s precise shot and Can’s composed finish in the second half maintained Germany’s momentum, marking a confident start to their tournament campaign.

This victory marks Germany’s third consecutive triumph over Scotland in major competitions. They will face Hungary next, while Scotland looks to bounce back against Switzerland in their upcoming match.
