Kano State Government revealed that Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor, left behind a debt of more than N500 billion upon exiting office, as stated by the current Deputy Governor, Abdussalam Gwarzo, during an NNPP meeting in Kaduna.
Gwarzo explained that the inherited debt could surpass N500 billion after the ongoing verification process.
This debt heavily impacted the commencement of the NNPP government’s operations in the state.
Additionally, he emphasized Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration’s efforts in ensuring salary payments and addressing pending issues, along with plans to disburse retirement gratuities, specifically focusing on lower-level staff who have been most affected.
