Foundation Launches Inter-Community Unity Football Competition in Ekiti, Kwara
In a bid to promote peace, unity, and community development, the Pantokranto Grassroot Foundation is set to launch an inter-community unity football competition in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The soccer tournament, scheduled to take place from August 20th to 31st, 2024, aims to bring together youths from the 10 wards of Ekiti Local Government Area, including Eruku, Isapa, Koro, Obbo-Aiyegunle I, Obbo-Aiyegunle II, Obbo-Ile, Osi I, Osi II, Opin, and Oke-Opin/Etan.
According to the Chairman of the foundation, Hon. Oluwaseyi Franklin Oluwabusuyimi, the competition is designed to achieve several objectives.
“The reason behind this competition is to promote peace and unity in the community through sports, encourage teamwork and collaboration among participants, foster a sense of community and belonging among residents, and provide a platform for young people to showcase their talents,” he explained.
The tournament is expected to be a vibrant display of soccer talent, teamwork, and community spirit. By bringing together youths from different wards, the competition aims to promote unity and foster a sense of belonging among residents.
While speaking with the press, the Chairman of the Competition Committee, Comr. Ogunbiyi Victor Toluwase, emphasized the benefits of the competition and outlined the modalities to be used.
“There is going to be a whole month window starting from June 15th to July 15th, 2024, for the registration of interested teams, and during the registration, a form will be obtained. After the registration, the grouping of the teams will follow.”
The Pantokranto Grassroot Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting community development and youth empowerment in Ekiti Local Government Area. The foundation has been involved in various initiatives, including education, healthcare, and economic empowerment programs.
