Former Kwara Poly PRO, Abdulkadir Yunus elected as new ADA President

Alhaji Abdulkadir Lasiele Yunus, the former Public Relations Officer of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has been elected as the new National President of the Agbaji Development Association (ADA) following a closely contested election held at the Agoro Compound in the community yesterday.

Yunus, from Saura compound in Agbaji Quarters, won the election against Issa Moyosore and Abdulrasheed Yusuf with 29 votes. Issa came in second with 18 votes, and Abdulrasheed placed third with 10 votes.

For the Vice President position, Mallam Ibrahim Abdulkareem won with 27 votes, defeating Afodun Hakeem and Abayomi Al-Agnah, who received 18 and 12 votes, respectively.

The position of General Secretary was secured by Abdulkadir Ghali Aburo with 34 votes, defeating AbdulRasheed Azukuti, who garnered 22 votes.

Other positions were uncontested: Rasaki Lambe became the new Treasurer with 45 votes, Buhari Taofiq Kawu was elected National Financial Secretary with 48 votes, Uthman A. Tosho became Chief Whip with 47 votes, and Agoro Mahmud was elected National Social Secretary with 42 votes. Alabi Tajudeen won PRO I with 41 votes, Lawal Abdullahi was elected PRO II with 47 votes, and Alagbede Kehinde became the new National Assistant General Secretary with 45 votes.

The Chairman of the Agbaji Independent Electoral Committee (AIEC), Alhaji Agbaji Mustapha, praised the contestants, voters, and members for their support and cooperation, describing the election as free and fair.

In his victory speech, Alhaji Abdulkadir thanked Almighty Allah for his success and expressed gratitude to AIEC Chairman Alhaji Agbaji Mustapha for his calm and effective coordination of the election process. He urged all contestants, especially those who lost, to unite and work together for the progress of Agbaji.

“We have President 1, 2, and 3. We all won; there is no loser. I encourage everyone to come together for the good of our community. There is much to be done but few people available, so our team will need everyone’s support to succeed,” Abdulkadir stated.
