First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Hosts First Nigerian Woman to Graduate from UK Military Academy

On Monday, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu welcomed 2nd Lieutenant Princess Oluchukwu Owowoh, the first Nigerian woman to graduate from the UK’s Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst (RMAS).
Owowoh, 24, was among the 135 officer cadets to graduate at RMAS’s Sovereign’s Parade in London on April 12.
In a statement from the Nigerian Army, it was noted that Senator Tinubu met Owowoh, who was accompanied by Major General John Ochai, Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), at the State House.
The First Lady called Owowoh’s achievement remarkable and described it as a blessing. She praised the Nigerian Army for providing opportunities for women and encouraged Nigerian youth to follow Owowoh’s example, advising them to avoid negative behavior.
Additionally, the First Lady suggested that Owowoh be considered for a national award and encouraged her to serve as a youth role model.
Major General John Ochai, the NDA Commandant, highlighted that Owowoh’s exceptional performance stood out among cadets from several countries, including India, Pakistan, Qatar, the UK, Canada, and Australia, all of whom had sent their best to train at RMAS, where she excelled.
