Finidi George unveiled As new Super Eagles’ Head Coach

Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, officially introduced Finidi George as the new head coach of Nigeria’s national men’s soccer team, the Super Eagles.
The unveiling took place at an event in Abuja attended by leaders of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) at the Media Centre of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Monday morning.
Enoh expressed pride in having a Nigerian coach, Finidi George, leading the national team, stating, “Any country where I find an indigenous coach on the bench, I always feel very proud.”
George, a former Super Eagles forward and Real Betis winger, was appointed permanently following the departure of Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro. He previously served as an assistant to Peseiro during the last African Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished as runners-up.
George’s appointment was announced several weeks ago after he served as interim coach for the team’s international friendlies against Ghana and Mali.
His first major task as head coach will be leading the team in the 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in June.
