FG’s policies are not working – Bala Mohammed

Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi, has criticized the federal government’s reforms, saying they are ineffective.
Mohammed expressed his concerns during the launch of the World Bank’s Nigeria Development Update report in Abuja on Thursday.
He stated that the revenues allocated to state governments are insufficient to tackle the existing challenges and that Nigerians are not benefiting from the current administration led by President Tinubu.
“There is widespread hardship that extends beyond the state governments. We are not responsible for these policies, yet the revenue being generated is inadequate to cover infrastructure costs or improve people’s living standards,” he said.
“There is a food crisis. Policies related to agriculture, manufacturing, and other sectors are failing to deliver the expected outcomes.”
He urged policymakers not to be rigid in their approach but to revisit fundamental strategies, emphasizing that citizens across all levels of government—federal, state, and local—are not experiencing positive impacts from the administration. “The responsibility ultimately lies with the finance and economic managers,” he concluded.
