FG Condemns Labour Strike, Says it’s Illegal Blackmail

The Presidency has characterized the impending organized labor strike as an illicit effort to pressure the government.

The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, directing a strike in protest of the recent maltreatment of NLC President Joe Ajaero, are accused of disregarding a restraining order from the Industrial Court.

The government asserts that while condemning Ajaero’s assault, the strike is an unwarranted move aimed at blackmailing the government, stressing that the labor leaders should not exploit their positions for personal disputes.

Additionally, the government contends that the strike violates the rule of law and disrespects the judiciary, deeming it an illegal, immoral, and irresponsible action with potential hidden agendas.
