FG begs for Dialogue as Nationwide Strike continues

The Federal Government is appealing to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) amid their ongoing nationwide strike.
Government representatives are currently meeting with union leaders to continue negotiations. DailyTrust reports widespread closures of banks, courts, and schools in response to the strike.
The NLC and TUC initiated the strike last Friday due to the government’s refusal to increase the minimum wage from N60,000.
In a statement, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, emphasized the government’s commitment to peaceful negotiations through the Tripartite Committee.
He stressed the shared goal of achieving a new, realistic minimum wage for all Nigerians, emphasizing cooperation over opposition in the negotiation process.
