FACT CHECK : No, Federal Govt is not giving N50,000 child fund to Nigerian Parents

False claims circulate online that the federal government is giving out N50,000 as Child support fund for Nigerian parents.

The claim was widely circulated through WhatsApp groups.

A message sent by user with the number +2348074611897 on “Kwara Commission”WhatsApp platform this afternoon directed people to click the link to claim their own.

The claims read; FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ₦50,000 CHILD SUPPORT FUND FOR ALL NIGERIAN PARENTS IS ONGOING*

Due to high level of complains from Nigerian parents on the high cost of feeding their children, *President Bola Ahmed Tinubu* have urge that the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation *Betta C. Edu* should open the CHILD SUPPORT scheme. Every Nigerian parents is entitled to receive the sum of ₦50,000 for 6 months.

FINDINGS

Findings conducted by SHO PEN ONLINE showed that any website bearing a _.blog.com_ domain and purporting to represent the federal government is fraudulent.

The findings also shows the claimed website mirrored a recruitment portal, while what it was meant for was “A Child Support Fund.” With this proof: _ndlea-recruitment-portal-2024-sv.blogspot.com_

A legitimate Federal Government website will consistently employ the use of a .gov.ng domain extension.

In additional findings, a click on the link will take the users to a website in which they will be asked to fill in personal details and then apply. A click on the ‘apply’ function will ask for bank details.

VERDICT

The claim that federal government is giving out N50,000 child fund to parents in false.
