The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) yesterday held its 11th Annual Empowerment Programme.
The event, organized under the auspices of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin and its Environs, brought together participants from across the Emirate for a day of impactful initiatives aimed at community development and empowerment.
Speaking at the event held at the Emir’s Palace, Ilorin, Kwara State, the National President of IEYDA, Alhaji Muhammed Uthman Jagunma, emphasized the association’s commitment to improving the lives of people in the Ilorin Emirate.

Jagunma expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all donors and supporters who contributed to the success of the programme.
He also expressed gratitude to the Emir of Ilorin for his continuous support and guidance.
One of the highlights of the programme was the step-down training on goat production facilitated by the Kwara State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (KW-LPRES).
This initiative was designed to equip participants with practical skills to improve livestock production and enhance economic opportunities within the agricultural sector.
The event also featured a graduation ceremony for ICT trainees under IEYDA’s training programme. Graduates were supported with essential gadgets to aid their transition into the workforce and entrepreneurship.
Scholarships were awarded to indigent students, reflecting the association’s commitment to promoting education and reducing financial barriers for underprivileged youths.
In addition, young artisans received start-up packs to help them establish their businesses, while women, widows, the elderly, and petty traders benefited from cash and equipment support.
Livestock empowerment was also provided as part of efforts to promote self-reliance among beneficiaries.
As part of its community outreach, IEYDA distributed food items to needy individuals and installed solar streetlights in strategic locations across the Emirate.
The solar streetlights are expected to enhance security and improve infrastructure in underserved areas.
