Ex-minister, Sadiya Umar-Farouk lands in EFCC net over N37bn alleged fraud
The EFCC also apprehended Halima Shehu, the National Social Investment Programme Agency official, on Tuesday, in connection with the same fraud allegations, leading to her suspension approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The ex-Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouk, is slated to face questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today regarding an alleged N37.1 billion fraud.
The EFCC also apprehended Halima Shehu, the National Social Investment Programme Agency official, on Tuesday, in connection with the same fraud allegations, leading to her suspension approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
An anonymous EFCC official disclosed that Shehu was implicated in the alleged fraud during her tenure as the former National Coordinator of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, supervised by Sadiya Umar-Farouq. Earlier, the EFCC had summoned contractor James Okwete for alleged fraudulent activities during the minister’s term in office.
