The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is set to prosecute the former governor of Kwara State, Abdulfattah Ahmed, for an alleged N10bn fraud, as revealed by reliable sources within the anti-graft agency.

Ahmed will face charges at the Federal High Court in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State. He has been in EFCC custody since Monday following an interrogation.

His Chief Press Secretary described his visit to the EFCC as routine, stating that Ahmed is always willing to cooperate with any inquiries regarding his tenure as governor.

However, the ex-governor’s spokesperson expressed concern over the stringent bail conditions imposed by the EFCC and the lack of access to medical care and personal staff.

In response, members of the opposition PDP in Kwara State staged a peaceful protest at the EFCC office, accusing the APC of orchestrating Ahmed’s predicament.

Despite the protests, the EFCC assured that Ahmed was being treated within the bounds of the law, with access to legal representation, medical attention, and proper nourishment.
