The Kano government has brought forth an eight-count charge against Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of the state, alleging that he received $200,000 from a contractor.

The charge sheet, submitted to the Kano high court and viewed by TheCable, states that this act violates the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Commission Commission Law 2008.

Ganduje, along with several others, is accused of various offenses, including conspiracy, misappropriation of funds, and breach of trust.

Additionally, the state government plans to have a forensic expert analyze a video allegedly showing Ganduje receiving dollar notes from a contractor.

Ganduje, who served as governor from 2015 to 2023 and is now the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been embroiled in controversy since 2018 when a video purportedly showing him accepting bribes was published by Daily Nigerian.

Despite being summoned by the Kano state Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) in 2023, Ganduje did not comply and instead filed a lawsuit against the agency.

In March, a federal high court in Kano ruled in Ganduje’s favor, stating that the state anti-graft agency lacks jurisdiction to investigate him for federal offenses.
