Arsenal delivered a stunning second-half performance to defeat Manchester City 5-1 in their English Premier League (EPL) clash at the Emirates on Sunday.

The Gunners’ goals came from Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz, and Ethan Nwaneri, while Erling Haaland scored City’s only goal. Arsenal’s dynamic display left the defending champions struggling to keep up.

The match started with an early lead for Arsenal, who capitalized on a defensive mistake by Manuel Akanji. Havertz intercepted the ball and provided a perfect assist for Odegaard to slot the ball home, giving the home side the advantage in just the second minute.

The game remained tight until the second half when Haaland rose highest to head in Savinho’s cross, equalizing for City in the 55th minute.

However, Arsenal regained the lead two minutes later, as Partey unleashed a long-range shot that deflected off John Stones into the net. The Gunners then extended their lead with a sensational strike from 18-year-old Lewis-Skelly, who scored his first senior goal with a thunderous effort five minutes after Partey’s goal.

Havertz then added a fourth, curling a shot into the far corner after a fast break. Deep into added time, substitute Nwaneri capped the victory with a well-placed shot into the far corner, making it 5-1.

This win extends Arsenal’s unbeaten run to 14 matches and marks their second consecutive victory at home over Man City, who suffered their first league defeat in seven games. Arsenal remain in second place with 50 points, reducing the gap to league leaders Liverpool to six points. City, winless in their last three encounters with Arsenal, stay in fourth with 41 points.

In other matches, Manchester United suffered a 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, dropping to 13th place, while Tottenham secured a 2-0 win at Brentford, easing their recent league struggles.
