The English Premier League (EPL) has announced Phil Foden as the 2023/24 Player of the Season.

The Manchester City forward was selected from an eight-man shortlist that included Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, Martin Odegaard, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Virgil van Dijk, and Ollie Watkins.

This marks the fifth consecutive year a Manchester City player has won the award, with previous winners including Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne (twice), and Ruben Dias.

Foden has scored 25 goals—17 in the EPL—and provided 11 assists this season, contributing significantly to Manchester City’s pursuit of a potential sixth EPL title.

“It is a great honor to win this award. The Premier League is considered the best league in the world, and it’s a privilege to be nominated alongside so many outstanding players,” Foden stated.

“I’m pleased with my performance this season and glad to have contributed with goals and assists. I’d like to thank the City staff, coaches, and especially my teammates, without whom this achievement wouldn’t be possible. I also appreciate everyone who voted for me; this award means a lot.”

Foden, a product of Manchester City’s academy, has already secured the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup titles this season.

He has the opportunity to add more trophies when City faces West Ham in their final league game of the season on Sunday and in the FA Cup final against Manchester United on May 25.
