The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has lauded the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its dedication and resilience in combating economic and financial crimes as well as other forms of corruption.

During a courtesy visit to his palace by Harry Erin, the Ilorin zonal director of the EFCC, Sulu-Gambari emphasized the critical role of the EFCC’s work in nation-building.

He stressed that the rampant corruption in Nigeria is a significant issue that tarnishes the country’s image globally and underscored the necessity for all patriotic Nigerians to support the commission’s efforts.

The Emir pointed out the alarming ease with which corruption has infiltrated various levels of society, noting that even young Nigerians are engaging in sophisticated financial crimes. He expressed concern over the perception that wealth in Nigeria is often associated with corruption and called for a collective effort to combat this stigma.

Sulu-Gambari also acknowledged the challenges the EFCC faces in its mission and urged the commission to persist in its duties to significantly reduce, if not completely eradicate, corruption.

Harry Erin, who characterized his visit as a “homecoming,” expressed gratitude to the emir and the traditional institution in Kwara State for their steadfast support of the EFCC’s endeavors over the past six years.
