The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti has called for the resignation of Ayodele Fayose, the state’s former governor, from the party.

During a statement made on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, Dare Adeleke, the PDP’s caretaker chairman in Ekiti, accused Fayose of engaging in activities detrimental to the party.

“It is crucial to address key issues impacting our party, particularly the anti-party activities of former Governor Ayodele Fayose and his associates,” Adeleke stated. “His public endorsements of the opposition are a direct challenge to our party’s values and unity.”

He strongly condemned Fayose’s actions and urged him to take the courageous and honest step of officially leaving the party.

Fayose had recently endorsed Abiodun Oyebanji, the current governor of Ekiti and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for re-election.

Last week, the Ekiti PDP requested the party’s national working committee (NEC) to suspend Fayose, stating, “The caretaker committee’s position is that Fayose must be expelled from the party.”
